The Real Benefits of Being your Own Boss

    Untitled18jpg

Have you ever witnessed the pride and satisfaction a child has after they’ve created something that is totally unique to them? Something which they were genuinely proud to show off. It didn’t matter to them how small their accomplishment was; it was theirs.

Ask any recruitment business owner about starting a business and they will tell you that it’s no walk in the park. There are long hours, plenty of doubts and an abundance of hurdles to clear, but you ask those same owners if it was worth every obstacle and you will only get one candid answer.

Like anything in life, nothing worth having comes easy. But after those challenging moments that leave you wanting to pack it all in, there are always those silver linings that refuse to be side-lined. You’ll soon realise that those silver linings are the reasons you should become your own boss.

Of course, if you’re the boss, you’re the boss. If you want to work from the office, at home, or from a 40 degree beach in the Bahamas, you as the boss have that advantage. Setting your own hours is a huge benefit. You have parents evening? Maybe you’ve got a social event you can’t miss? A rigid schedule is something which your consultants will have to adhere to – not you.

One of the biggest differences between being an employee and a boss is, of course, the salary. An employee looks at ways to save money, where an entrepreneur looks ways to make money. Not having your pay packet determined by a higher rank means that you are in charge of your wage. When you’re your own boss, you have the potential to create a wealth that is almost impossible otherwise – what could be more rewarding than that?

As an employee, how many times have you had an idea which you know the company could benefit from? How many times has that idea been heard but not listened to? This is something that becoming an entrepreneur eliminates. You make all of the decisions and have full creative control. It does not in any way mean that you have to create every single idea, but it does mean that you ultimately have the deciding judgement for the direction of your business.

Given the right balance and planning, that direction could be limitless. If you’re sat in a dead end job that offers no growth or reward, then in reality, what are you contributing to the world? We all want to be known for being the best that we can be and what better way to accomplish that than to be responsible for a legacy that will last long beyond your lifetime? If you believe in your idea enough, you can leave your mark on the world.

The perks do not end there. You, yourself will have to go through the trials and tribulations that the entrepreneurial path throws at you to witness what you will get out of being your own boss. They are not laid out on a silver platter for you. However, if you create something that is yours then just like that proud child, the ultimate reward will be your sense of achievement and limitless skies.
